Yay computer

Well, my hard drive decided to quit today. That's excellent timing, as Murphy would agree, given that I was right in the process of backing it up. I lost all my photos and this book I was working on, but fortunately I have all my schoolwork saved. I'm going to send it in for a quote for data recovery, but considering the starting price is $400, this is really going to hurt.

It really isn't so much about the price as the hassle of getting things in and out of this country. Imagine the story of my poor hard drive: still reeling from the effects of my head crash yesterday I was ripped from my rubber shock-isolating den in the Macbook to be taken on a two mile ride on the bumpiest cobblestone road I have ever felt, rattling my poor platters like dinner plates in an earthquake. I was then stuffed in a box of murderous (from a static perspective) packing peanuts, put on a plane where at 40,000 feet over the atlantic I froze in -70 degree thin atmosphere, then I was thrown onto a brown truck and driven by a madman through the summer stench of new york city streets until I landed on the doorstop of CBL Data, whose associates have already cut me open and are performing surgery on me as we speak.
